"Making JAWS"

“Making JAWS” About halfway through the production of the movie, the sharks were functioning well enough to be used consistently during filming. Virtually every day, usually from sundown to sunrise, the shark of the day required repairs. In the picture on the card, you can see me literally repairing and crafting the jaw of one of the sharks. (Interestingly, even in my own painting, I appear anonymous and blend into the shark.) The shark is resting in a cradle, much of which I also built with my crew, that was berthed in "Shark City" near Oak Bluffs Harbor. On the deck, you can note my 22-inch framing hammer, the hog ring staple pliers, and some staples used for mending the tear by the infamous jowl near the jaw.
